DENNIS ROWELL

Dennis Rowell, 65, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015. He was born on April 16, 1950 at Falls City to the late LaVern and Catherine (Liberty) Rowell.

Dennis was raised in Kansas City and graduated from North KC High in 1968.

Following graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served five years before being honorably discharged at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.

Following his service, Dennis worked as an over-the-road truck driver. He then became employed at Firestone Tire Plant in Elizabeth Town, KY, where he lived for 10 years before moving back to Kansas City and returning to truck driving. He retired in 2007 due to his health. He and his fiance, Camelia Cabanas, enjoyed riding his Harley and Dennis also collected eagles and knives.

He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ at Kansas City

Dennis is survived by his fiance, Camelia Cabanas, of KC, MO; children, Shohn Rowell, of Rolla, MO, Justin Rowell and Katrina Rowell, both of Henderson, KY; step-daughter, Yaisi Newton, of KC; brother, Kerry Rowell, of KC, and Michael (Mindy) Rowell, of Robinson, KS; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service was held Monday, July 20, 2015 at Rulo Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to service time at the cemetery.

Dorr & Clark Funeral Home, of Falls City, was in charge of arrangements.
