Dickey’s benefit for Dorste Family Feb. 25

Dickey’s Barbeque will host a benefit for the Hailey Dorste family throughout the day Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m. until closing.

Hailey, the 13-year-old daughter of Aaron and Melinda Dorste, was born with transposition of the great arteries and in January underwent a third open heart surgery. She had her first open heart surgery at two weeks old and then again at age three. The Falls City Middle School student was unable to play basketball this winter, but her surgery was a success and she doesn’t have to see her heart specialist again for an entire year.

Dickey’s employee Rachel Aitken, on behalf of manager Rachel Witt, approached the family and said they would like to organize a benefit to help with expenses for Hailey’s latest open heart surgery. During the day Feb. 25, those who order the special – two pulled pork sliders, one home style side, drink and ice cream for $5 – Dickey’s will donate half of the proceeds to the Dorste Family to help cover medical costs incurred from Hailey’s 3rd open heart surgery. Funds may be supplemented by Thrivant Financial for Lutherans
