Coach Darin Fritz’ third version of Falls City High Tiger Football boasts 18 seniors with playoff experience (including a playoff victory), the biggest, most athletic line he’s ever had, the most team speed, and perhaps the most dangerous big play weapon in Class C1 and yet neither the Omaha World-Herald nor the Lincoln Journal-Star gave the 2014 Tigers a shred of love in their respective preseason prognostications.
The Tigers, according to the experts, not only rank below 10 other Class C1 teams this fall, they don’t even belong in the conversation.
And Fritz thanks them. For a guy who for motivation once encouraged his team to use a copy of this very publication as an exit mat, the snub, too, belongs on the list of above-mentioned attributes. In other words, he thinks there’s a supercharged V8 under the orange hood — and now there’s octane.
