    Bland was not on the menu last Monday night at City Hall, as the owner of a new restaurant peppered one council member on the subject of sauce and barbecue, while firefighters continue to fume as the City Council considers going back on a promise it made to the Falls City Fire Dept. just a month ago.
    In May, the Council, against the recommendation of the Management Committee and City Clerk/Treasurer Gary Jorn, voted 7-1 to replace retiring fireman Ralph Gilkerson with another full-time fire truck driver. The City is advertising the job opening in today’s Journal classified section. But last Monday (June 2), FC Police Chief Duane Armbruster proposed the idea of adding a full-time city employee who would work for both the Police and Fire Depts.
    The Council tabled the issue, will discuss it further (and possibly even bring it to a vote) at the Monday, June 16, meeting (6 p.m. start). The idea of a second vote regarding the one fireman job was not well-received by FC Fire Chief Ken Simpson.

A new page will open and please fill out the necessary information in the ‘User Registration’ form below the heading, ‘New User Account With Membership Subscription.’ After you have completed the form, click ‘Register’ and you will be redirected to the Journal’s PayPal account where you can pay for your subscription. After payment is made you will be taken back to the home page where you can use your log-in name and password to begin using your subscription. Please allow a few minutes for your payment to process before logging in to the site.
