There’s a new Sheriff in town.
Nebraska State Parol Investigator Don Pounds won Tuesday’s Republican Primary for Richardson County Sheriff, defeating incumbent Randy Houser and Falls City Mayor Tim Hersh by a considerable margin. Pounds received 684 votes, more than twice that of Houser (335). Hersh had 237 votes. Since no Democrat filed for office, Pounds will run unopposed in next November’s General Election.
Overall voter turnout in the county was under 30 percent.
