The fifth-ranked FC Sacred Heart volleyball team were straight set winners over Wymore Southern, 25-16, 25-15 and 25-15, last Thursday at Prichard Auditorium. It was the first match in nine days for Lady Irish, who improved to 17-3 on the season.
Senior Emma Schock and junior Abby Magdanz combined to go 39-for-39 serving with two aces and sophomore Maggie Goltz was 35-for-38 hitting with 14 kills and two blocks. Freshman Haylee Heits was 27-for-30 hitting with eight kills and senior libero Ashli Jordan picked up a game-high 28 digs. Junior setter Elizabeth Magdanz recorded 31 assists, 11 digs and four kills.
FCSH travels tonight to Johnson-Brock (12-7) for a triangular with Humboldt-TR-S (11-7). FCSH has defeated J-B in both meetings this season, but has yet to play HTRS. Schock, Jordan, Rachel Parrish and Katherine Bieker will play their final home games Thursday night when they host Pawnee City (10-11). The junior varsity game begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday with the varsity game to follow.
Lady Irish JV
FCSH defeated Southern 25-20 and 25-21 last Thursday at Prichard Auditorium. Libby Dunn served 12-of-14 with two aces and Jade Hill was 7-for-8 with one ace while also recording six kills at the net.
Last Monday night, the Lady Irish went 2-1 in the Falls City High JV tourney to earn fifth place. FCSH lost to Auburn, 18-25 and 24-26, but battled back with wins over Marysville (KS), 17-25, 25-8 and 15-10, and Nebraska City, 25-16 and 25-14.
