Falls City High sophomore Brody Weinmann fired an 82 and finished sixth at last Wednesday’s Palmyra Invitational held at Woodland Hills Golf Course. His score of 40 was tied for the third best score on the back nine. Tiger senior Wade Witt also medaled with a 41-43–84, which earned him ninth place.
Collectively, the Tigers finished fourth in the 10-team field of the “Gold Division” with a total score of 260. Milford was first, as they edged Elmwood-Murdock 246 to 248. Johnson County Central also shot 260, but defeated Falls City in the scorecard playoff.
Mitchell Rust of Elmwood-Murdock was the only player to break 40 on both nines and was the top individual medalist with his 39-39–78. Zac Morley of Milford shot 79 for second place. Dana Van Ostrand of Lincoln Christian won a playoff to capture third place, as he tied Harrison Agena of Syracuse and Mitch Hohlen of Lincoln Christian with scores of 80 after 18 holes.
Brandt Vice carded a 94 for FC and finished in 22nd place.
The Tigers were also fourth in the “Silver Division” with a team score of 307. Fourteen teams competed in the “Silver Division” with David City capturing the team title with a score of 284.
Weston Witt, a Tiger sophomore, finished one stroke out of a tie for first with a round of 88. Cameron Clark of Syracuse edged Witt with an 87.
FC’s other two competitors, Dakota Pentecost and Preston Deckinger, carded rounds of 103 and 116, respectively.
The Tigers travel to Tecumseh Thursday for the Johnson County Central Invite, which will be the final competitive round before the May 13th district tournament at Tiburon Golf Course in Omaha.
