Jesse Howard Grush Jr., 90, of Falls City, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Community Medical Center in Falls City. He was born April 17, 1922, on the family farm north of Falls City to Jesse Howard and Alverta (Prichard) Grush.
He graduated from Falls City High School in 1941. Howard enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in October of 1942. He served his country during WWII and was honorably discharged in February of 1946.
Howard was united in marriage to Cora Lee Stump on November 19, 1944 in Falls City. Later he was united in marriage to Beverly Thompson.
Howard returned home after the service to work the family farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and one son, Stephen Grush. He is survived by his children, Sheryl Hunzeker, of Falls City, Charlene Wamsley (Dearle) of Smithville, MO, John Grush of Falls City, William Grush of Blair; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Wisner of Yorba Linda, CA; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Howard Grush was held Monday, March 4, at the Brethren Church in Falls City. Burial followed at Steele Cemetery in Falls City. Visitation was Sunday, March 3, at the Hall Funeral Home in Falls City.
