DELBERT 'DEL' COCHRAN



Delbert “Del” Cochran, 74, of Verdon, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Lincoln. He was born on June 13, 1942 in rural Falls City to Samuel and Gladys (Clark) Cochran.

Del enlisted in the U. S. Marines Corp on March 10, 1966 and was honorably discharged on Dec. 20, 1967.

He married Christine Hill on Oct. 10, 1970 at Avenel, NJ.

Del was raised in rural Falls City and graduated from Dawson-Verdon High School in 1960. Following graduation he moved to Omaha and worked various jobs until enlisting in the Marines. Upon his discharge, he became employed in law enforcement for the Metropolitan DC Police Dept. in Washington, DC, retiring in 1988 after 20 years. He worked various jobs around the DC area until moving back to Verdon in 1995; in 1996 he became a Richardson County Sheriff’s Deputy, retiring in 2001. He then worked for the Nebraska Dept. of Roads for a couple years. He joined the Patriot Guard in 2002 and was the Cochran family’s historian.

Del is survived by his wife, Chris Cochran, of Herndon, VA; son, Jeffrey (Terri) Cochran, of Lincoln; daughter, Lisa Cochran, of Herndon, VA; sisters, Etta Blasotto, of Wayland, MA, and Thelma (Denzil) Bell, of Falls City; grandchildren, Justin and Skylar Dowdy; and step-grandchildren, Zac Johnson and Jacobi Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Norman; and sisters, Gertrude Cochran and Mildred DeRoin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, Falls City. Interment at Harris Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
