RUSSELL ‘DEAN’ HORNER

Russell “Dean” Horner, 79, of Troy, KS, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at his home. Dean was born on Sept. 17, 1937 in Robinson, KS, to Charles and Daisy (Shaiffer) Horner.

He was a member of the U.S. Air Force, Troy American Legion Post #55 and UTU. Dean retired as a conductor for the UP Railroad.

He married Marilyn Thompson on Aug. 9, 1969. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandy Goltz; brother, Keith Horner; and a sister, Fern Shelton.

Survivers include son, Terry (Amy) Horner, of Troy; grandchildren, Mitch Horner, Larissa Hoffman, Brennan and Tyler Horner; sister, Donna Stock, of Troy; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Troy. Visitation from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Horner family invites friends who are traveling to the Troy High School state baseball game to come by and see Dean at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial at Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy. Memorials can be made to Doniphan County American Legion Baseball.
