Larry Godwin, 83, of Falls City, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Falls City. He was born May 10, 1934 at Pleasant Hill, IL, to the late Homer and Rena (Nutt) Godwin.
Larry was raised at Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1952. He earned a teaching degree from Hastings College and then a Master in Education from Kansas University.
Larry served in the U.S. Air Force. On March 23, 1958 he married Nelda Dettmer at Arapahoe, NE. She passed away Sept. 30, 2009. The couple moved to Falls City in 1960 and he began a long teaching career at Falls City High School.
He was a lifetime member of Falls City Elks Lodge #963 and also the Falls City Country Club.
He is survived by sons, Brad (Cynthia) Godwin, of Grandview, MO, and Todd (Jyl) Godwin, of Falls City; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Weinert officiating. The family will received friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation or the Falls City Library.
