ZELLA SCHAWANG

Zella Schawang, 93, of Falls City, passed away May 10, 2016 at Falls City. She was born Dec. 24, 1922 to the late John and Nellie (Cozad) Schlicker.
Zella was raised in Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1940. She worked at One Stop Café where she met her future husband.  She married Peter Schawang on Jan. 1, 1943 at Falls City. He passed away Aug. 11, 1994. Once the couple was married they established their home in Falls City until moving to Salem where they lived for 15 years until returning to Falls City. She worked as a cook until becoming employed at Pamida where she worked in the office as a book keeper. She retired in 1992.
She is survived by her sons: Joseph Thomas (Cheryl) Schawang, Olathe, KS; Michael (Janet) Schawang, Omaha; daughters, Zita Ebel, Hiawatha; Lisa (Kiven) Moormeier, Roca, NE; sister, Twila Strukooff, Lincoln; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Gene Ebel, and four brothers.
Services will be held Thursday, May 12, 10:30 AM at the Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Chavanak officiating.  Interment will be held at Steele Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at the Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
