Rose Shurtleff, 85, of Falls City, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Falls City. She was born Jan. 25, 1929 at Nebraska City, NE to the late Dick and Lillian (Craig) Parker.
On Aug. 22, 1947 she married Wayne Shurtleff at Falls City. He passed away Oct. 1, 1993.
Rose was raised at Brownville and attended school at Brownville. When married the couple established their home in Falls City. She worked at Pamida and in the South School cafeteria. She retired in 1986. She attended First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary both of Falls City.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Jean Sailors, Mary (Rodney) Wissman, and Harriett Shurtleff, all of Falls City; son, Kenny (Barb) Shurtleff, of Milford; sister, Judith Helter, of Hemet, CA; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Cheryl and Elaine, in infancy, Carol Shurtleff, Sue Petsche and Annice Utecht; sisters, Virginia Farson and Elaine Hill; and a grandson, Chris Olson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Roxie Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. Open visitation and viewing will begin Thursday afternoon.
