Railsback 1-2, Wilhelm 0-2 at State Meet

Humboldt-TR-S wrestlers Ben Railsback and Jacob Wilhelm built towards next year after earning, if nothing else, valuable experience Thursday during the State Wrestling Tournament at Omaha’s CenturyLink Center.

Railsback, a 160-pound junior, lost his first match to Valentine’s Lance Hockenbary, who pinned Railsback in 3:58, but bounced back with a 13-6 decision over Ean Stacken of Creighton/Verdigre. Railsback’s day and tournament ended in a 7-4 decision to Central City’s Brad Schroch.

Wilhelm, a 106-pound freshman, was pinned (1:43) by Kearney Catholic’s Alex Cantral who finished fourth, and then fell 10-0 in a major decision to Wood River’s Wyatt Allan.

Railsback and Wilhelm, both first time state qualifiers, finished the season 33-13 and 16-22, respectively.
