Sprint, Kids Triathlons Saturday at Aquatic Center

 

 

 

A reminder the triathlon is on Saturday, July 28 starting at 8 a.m. for the Sprint and 10 a.m. for the Kids Triathlon at the FC Aquatic Center.

The sprint triathlon is open to all individuals 15 years of age and older, the kids triathlon is for competitors 7-14 years of age. Both triathlons can be raced as individuals or as a relay team of three.

The route for the Sprint Triathlon – the athletes will swim 300 meters serpentine swim in the FCAC pool.  Bike – the athletes will leave transition area to end of FCAC driveway and turn north on Old Hwy. 73, follow until they arrive at Highway 73 (behind Merz Farm Equipment), they will head north for about four miles, will turn around and head south on highway 73, they will follow until Harlan and Old Hwy. 73, turning right in front of Northvue Cafe. They will head north until they reach FCAC heading into transition area. Run- athletes will leave transition area following the signs to run out on the FCAC sidewalk to Barada Street.  They will head south on Barada to 23rd St. heading west to Schoenheit St.  They will head north on Schoenheit to 25th St. heading west toward Stanton Lake, they will follow the sidewalk to the back of Stanton Lake and will come out on 28th St. They will head east toward Barada, north on Barada to Old Hwy. 73 to the Community Medical Center, they will enter the main entrance of the hospital, run around the hospital to exit back on to Old Hwy. 73 heading south to the FCAC finish.

The Sprint Triathlon will start at 8 a.m. – 300 meter swim, 15K bike and 5K run.

The route for the kids triathlon – the younger athletes will swim 150 meters serpentine swim in the FCAC pool.  Bike – the younger athletes will leave the transition area to the FCAC sidewalk and head west to Barada Street and head south to 23rd St., they will head west on Schoenhiet heading north to 25th St., they will head west on 25th Street to Clifton, head north to 28th. They will head east toward Barada, Barada to Old Hwy. 73 turning south to FCAC transition area.  Run – the young athletes will run out of the FCAC to Old Hwy. 73 and head north to the main entrance of the CMC, they will run around the hospital to exit back on to Old Hwy. 73 going south to the FCAC finish.

The Kids Triathlon will start at 10 a.m. (time will vary depending on the Sprint Triathlon athletes, all will have to finish before the Kids Triathlon starts).  150 swim, two-mile bike and one-mile run.

The Richardson County Sherriff and Emergency Management will help with the highway and street courses. Emergency Management will provide volunteers with radios and vests to assist the athletes along the course of the race.

The Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad will be on site for both events.

Volunteers are needed and will be used in all areas of the race. Parents are able to bike and run with the children 10 years of age and younger who have signed up for the Super Sprint Triathlon.

Spectators are encouraged to cheer the athletes on.
